Charity.
I grew up with my immediate family all around me, so honestly we never wanted for much. What we had, we shared. What we needed was shared with us. My mother worked 3 jobs. My father worked equally hard, and overall it worked.
Today though, a lot of that community spirit no longer exists. Extended family units seldom reach out. So, there’s a lot of suffering in our communities. Privately, for years, I’ve assisted out of pocket. Because, I know how hard it is to *accept* charity (- it truly is). However, in December 2015 and January 2016, I asked for assistance from those around me. Together, we were able to feed 35 families. Not just ‘feed’, but provide groceries for a week or two (depending on the size of the household).
What a blessing!
I cannot wait to see what 2016 has in store for our movement.
A big thank you to each of you that contributed!
